กิเลส คือ สิ่งที่แฝงติดอยู่ในใจแล้วทำให้ใจเศร้าหมองขุ่นมัว มีอุปมาเหมือนสีที่ใส่ลงไปในน้ำทำให้น้ำมีสีเหมือนสีที่ใส่ลงไป ใจก็เช่นกัน ปกติก็ใสสะอาด แต่กลายเป็นใจดำ ใจง่าย ใจร้าย
